 About Summer School

   The summer school is intended for postgraduate, PhD students, post-docs and junior faculty members. The aim is to provide young researchers with a systematic training on conducting lab and field experiment (and randomized controlled trial) in developing countries. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss their own research projects with leading researchers in a relaxed and open atmosphere, and receive advice and feedback

 Sessions

    Lecture topics include recent developments and challenges in Impact evaluation methods (both experimental and non-experimental methods), the design of randomized experiments, quasi-experiments and lab-in-the-field experiments, and problems with implementation.

    Selected projects by participants will be presented and discussed during the day. We encourage all participants to submit either complete papers or detailed proposals that present empirical evidence on a development question.

    Applicants could select Session 1 or Session 2 from Program ( Note: This shall be clear in application form).We encourage you to participate all courses in this program.

 How to Apply

Prerequisites

    It requires applicants should have academic background in economics and related majors. Graduate student, especially PhD candidate and young scholars are very welcome to join our academic team.

    As the DUFE – Groningen/Wageningen Summer School is delivered in English, it is essential that all participants have a good standard of English language to enable them to fully participate in the program and interact with their classmates. We appreciate that applicants may show their English ability in a range of ways, such as:

● Being of a nationality where English is the first language.

● Having studied at university level in English (not learning English language), as shown on a transcript. 

● Having studied English at school and received a good passing grade.

● Having taken an approved English Language test and met the standard below:

★ IELTS – 7.0 or above (including 6.5 in all components) 

★ TOEFL (Internet based) – 100 or above (including 25 in each component)

★ Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) – with grade B or better or 185 points overall and a minimum of 185 points in each individual component

★ Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE) – with grade C or better or 185 points overall and a minumim of 185 points in each individual component

★ Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTEA) – academic test with a score of 65 in all four components

★ College English Test (CET-6) – with grade 550 or above

Cost and Logistics

No tuition and fees are required, but all the students will cover their own cost of transportation and accommodation. And the student should sign an agreement of Students Undertaking of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics - Groningen / Wageningen University Summer School.

Applications and deadlines

A completed application form should be submitted together with:

a) A CV

b) An academic reference letter

c) An empirical research project or a completed paper (only in pdf)

d) the scanned ID

e) proof of English Language
